Energy Section
The Energy Sector is one of the key sectors in the Zambia economy in which significant public investment has been undertaken. With the adoption by Cabinet of the National Energy Policy there is need to create a section in the Ministry which will deal with all aspects of energy planning and policy formulation. Such a section would guide developments in the supply and demand of the various energy resources in the country. It is thus recommended that an Energy Section be created in the Planning and Information Department of the Ministry of Perform these functions:-
- Co-ordinating the preparation of the energy development programme budget for the Ministry;
- Monitoring and assessing the performance of the energy sector in relation to established sector objectives and strategies;
- Reviewing existing places of energy legislation with a view to determining their effectiveness;
- Addressing environmental issues related to energy project preparation, monitoring and implementation;
- Analysing the Socio-economic impact of the Ministry’s policies on energy sector development.
- Co-ordination of technical assistance from international and regional co-operating partners in the energy sectors.
